Satellite Pyramid GIII-c
Description: Pyramid GIII-c is the westernmost of the three satellite pyramids on the south side of the Pyramid of Menkaure. The design features of the Satellite Pyramid suggest that its builders originally planned to build a stepped pyramid, but for some reason the construction was not completed. The entrance to the Pyramid was first cleared and described in 1837 by Colonel Howard Vyse, together with engineer and archaeologist John Shae Perring. The intersecting and horizontal red lines found on the ceiling and walls of the burial chamber and the descending corridor indicate that the interiors and passages of the Pyramid were not completed. The burial chamber looked like it had just been left by stonecutters: it contained stone chips, a small amount of rotting wood, and several rounded stones of various sizes, which were probably used as beaters.Alternative names: Pyramid of Menkaure's Queen III
